An effort to recapitulate and share my ideas, views and thoughts in words...

What can I say!...started reading this book half heartedly but it turned out to be one of my faviorites! Really appreciate Alex Haley for his works, tracing his roots,he has really succeeded in bringing forth the deepest feelings of a black man.The life in the wilderness of can almost feel the smell of the dry grass, the sound of brimming brooks, the beautiful sounds from the tribal instuments and unfortunately every thing ends up in a misery for Kunta Kinte the boy from Gambia who was taken to America as a slave by the whites.Alex Haley has almost created the entire climate of slavery, the rude and inhuman behavior of the whites and i could feel each whiplash on Kunta's back and the trying circumstances that he had to face at a tender age ...barely in his teens. The story ends up in the abolishment of slavery..5 generations after Kunta with the author himself..Alex Haley.

The joy and bliss of being free and independent was what i could take away at the end of the story...And to trace the history of his forefathers as far as the 6th generation ...Truly amazing..

A true marvel threading fiction with reality..I strongly recommend this one for all the passionate readers who are proud of who they are...I am sure this will be a priceless lesson for all of us who weep over our very gifted lives..
